Bathurst Long Track Masters
Bathurst Long Track Masters
Arguably the biggest event on the Flat Track Racing calendar.
Long Track Slider up to 500cc Unlimited - To be racing with this caliber of riders, fighting and dicing in my heats and to secure a 9th place gate pick for the final, was a real confident booster. In the final I got a cracking start and was in the top 6 coming into turn one, I was able to pass riders and I came through the checkered flag in a respectable 4th position. With my limited experience on a slider, this result was beyond my expectations. The Checkweigh GM 500cc felt like a Rocketship all weekend. I would like to thank Brett and Gayle Jeffery for the amazing opportunity.
Bathurst Unlimited- A very hotly contested race with 70 riders in this class. I raced my heart out in all my heats obtaining two 7ths and a 4th. In the repercharge I had a tough race, lots of battles fighting for my place and I finished 8th. I was not able to get into the final, however I finished 20th out of 70 riders. I am happy with this result, with lots of room for improvement.
Pro Open Women - I had some mixed results. In one of my races I was hit off the line which caused me to almost crash on the straight. Watching back at the footage I am surprised I was able to stay upright. Regaining control of the bike I was able to make up several places, taking 3rd and obtaining the fastest lap of the race. I knew then I was more than fast enough to win the next race. This is exactly what I did. I lead the race from start to finish and I won by .5 of a second. Unfortunately, my overall placings did not give me enough points to win the night, I placed 3rd overall. I am very much looking forward to the next race, where I know I can do better.
Kudos to my Mechanics Chris Barton and Don Street, getting the Checkweigh GM500 in perfect working order along with mentoring me and for all the hard work with getting the YZF450 race ready. Thanks to Wayne and Jack Morrison and a very big thank you to Andy Martins.
